Research point

I put six books about art down:

I found in each a page with text and a picture. As a first, I wanted to know what typefaces are used. The application What The Found was not successful. I looked back in my Graphic design 1 study and I found this webpage http://www.identifont.com, which helped me to identify the typefaces. The step by step process of the researching reminds me how details are important to find the right typeface. Especially the tiny details around number 4, font Q, K, M. Really great repetition.

1. headline and text is sans serif FAKT typeface
2. text is serif Berthold Baskerville (when researching the typeface I felt nonconformity to read the text, probably due to a high of text - too small)
3. text is Newton
4. text is Fakt typeface

The similarities:

  • two columns per page
  • pictures positioned in the same grid as columns
  • the beginning of chapter has a little bit different layout but owned some similarities such as fulfilled one page with a picture
  • margins and gutters have enough space

I noticed, even they have the same layout across the whole book, some pages broke the rule. Here are nice examples from these books.
